An ancient vegetable grown in Peru for over 8000 years. Madagascar bean is a vigorous climbing lima bean. It is excellent at coping with wet humid condition. It is very prolific. The seeds are an attractive white with burgandy speckles. The shelled beans can be used fresh or dried in soups and stews. It is a great survival/prepper food and can be stored for a long time dried. Climate Tropical/subtropical and temperate Planting Details Recommended Planting Time: Sow in spring Planting Depth: Sow the seed 2 – 4 cm deep. Spacing: Sow directly into the ground, at least 60 cm apart. Position: Full sun/medium sun. This vigorous vine needs a strong trellis. Great on a fence/vegetable garden perimeter. Can be grown as an annual or perennial.
